About LBSM College
Empowering communities through quality education, discipline, and moral values since 1971.
Our Legacy
Established in the year 1971 by Prof. A. K. Verma, Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial College was founded with a profound commitment to empower marginalized communities. The foundation stone of this college was laid by Mrs. Lalita Shastri, wife of our revered second Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Today, LBSM College stands as a reputed constituent unit of Kolhan University, Chaibasa. Located at Karandih, just two kilometers south of Tata Nagar Railway Junction, the campus provides excellent connectivity to students while retaining its peaceful environment. In 2023, the college was proudly granted the status of "Premier" College by the Jharkhand Government.
We have the distinct honor of being named after the great legendary leader and the second Prime Minister of India, Late Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri. Within a short span of time, this college has earned the distinction of propagating his high ideals of duty, discipline, and moral values.
Catering to 7,767 students enrolled in UG and 533 in PG programmes, the college provides vital opportunities for progress, prosperity, and self-reliance. We currently impart teaching across Arts, Commerce, Science, and specialized vocational courses like B.B.A. and B.C.A.
With a view to equipping students to face modern challenges, we operate on a sprawling 11.05 acres of land. The campus features modern infrastructure, including a multipurpose examination hall, digitized library, and well-maintained laboratories to support holistic student development.
